Throughout history, the world’s climate and effects on the animals in
these climates has changed on the blame of humans. Humans play a large role in
the world and control half of the world’s accessible freshwater as well as
changed half the land surface for personal need. Through these changes, you see
animals thriving such as the deciduous-based deer, and animals dying such as the
polar. So what is the main cause of these effects on these specific animal
changes?
Through research, I have compiled as to why animals such as the deer are
thriving and the polar bears are becoming extinct. Global warming is a big
factor. Many scientists believe the reason behind the melting of the polar ice
caps is due to the burning of fossil fuels into the atmosphere that in turn
warms the climate and is causing limited space for the polar bears to roam and
live. This has no effect on the deer because the species can adapt to slightly
warmer climates and are not born in harsh climates such as the polar bear’s.
Another large factor of these causes is offshore drilling and oil spills.
Polar bears cannot live without a clean water source because it makes them less
susceptible to attain food from their prey, the seal. With this, polar bears
resort to cannibalism that decreases their species number. The deer on the other
hand, do not need large water reserves to live and can roam off land solely.
With research and examples there are more than enough reasons as to why
the polar bears are dying and the deer are thriving. Humans control the world
and need to distribute the land and treat it right in order to keep species such
as the Polar Bears to live and thrive. With the increase of changes in the
ecosystem by methods such as global warming and offshore drilling, animals will
ultimately see a decline but for other more widely populated species it will
stay the same or even progress in a positive
way.
